Whether it is new construction or a complete renovation, concrete slabs will often require core drilling, cutting, or partial demolition. This can prove dangerous when you consider what is buried within that concrete slab: electrical conduits, water lines, post-tension (PT) cables, gas pipes, data lines, and more. The potential to accidentally strike one of these remains high, and could prove both costly and extremely dangerous in absence of concrete scanning.

It is critical for Project Managers to locate imbedded post-tension cables and rebar within a concrete slab prior to core drilling an existing slab, and prior to breaking ground on a new build. SB’s suite of GPR systems and antennas allow a safe and accurate means to locate imbedded steel with precision. The location, direction, and depth of imbedded steel is marked directly on the work surface to ensure safe and effective drilling, without risk of personal injury and while preserving the integrity of the structure.

We combine our use of GPR with electromagnetic (EM) locators to locate and map electrical conduits, wires, and cables buried in subsurface terrain and concrete slabs.
